Louisy Thompson – Trail, Oregon - I am originally from Mohnton, PA, but am working seasonally in Vermont as an outdoor instructor.  This winter I am working with Winema Kennels, which is bringing two of my greatest loves together; animals and working outdoors.  I’ve had zero years of racing, but have already encountered many of the hazards of dog sledding; I’ve fallen, been dragged, and have been THIS close to losing my team!  I love working with the dogs and can’t wait for the races to start!
April Wood – Auberry, California – I got my first Siberian Husky when I was 15 years old. I have been married for over 21 years now and have actively raised, bred, shown, hiked, and done sledding with them the whole time. I recently became more serious about the sledding part after entering my first race in March of 2005 with a 3-dog team…. Since then I have attended Mushing Boot Camp, participated in a few 6-dog sprint races, and have hooked up and ran a team as big as 10 dogs. In December 2009 I went to West Yellowstone, Mt and raced in the 6-dog / 10 mile class. I love being out on the trail with the dogs and have been enjoying a successful training / racing season so far!

Kathy Miyoshi – Prineville, Oregon – I have been racing almost 15 years now which is incredible to think about…I mostly am involved with purebred Siberian Huskies but as of the last couple seasons have included a few hounds in my pack, as well as a few dogs from the local shelter! As a result, my main team is a hodge-podge of all of those animals! I have taken the winter off to race this season, and am excited to test my dogs against some good competition at this Siskiyou race. Thank you to Lisa and Pat who I know work SO hard every year to put on this event, and to the whole Shasta/Weed community as well!
Jeff Anderson, San Diego County (Fallbrook) California –   I have been recreational sledding and urban mushing for 4 years.  A special thank you to Barb Schaefer for sharing her dogs to race along with my two to make a team. Prior race experience is Shaver Lake Sleddog Races and “The Not So Great Serum Run”.

Alex Dreussi – Trail, Oregon - Originally from Canton, Ohio, he has only recently completed his crash course in sled dog training at the internationally known Winema Meadow Kennels. His love for animals is exceeded only by his love of racing – with the two dovetailing perfectly into the field of sled dog racing. Distilling the hours and hours of scooping poop and being slobbered on into the thrilling minutes on the trail makes it all worthwhile. What better to do in the 22nd winter of one’s life?!
